The Philippine-American Educational Foundation (PAEF) delivered a lecture-forum on February 1, 2012 at the MMSU-American Corner (AC) to university officials, faculty members, staff and students.
The lecturer, Ms. Eileen Consuelo D. Valdecañas, program officer and educational advising coordinator of PAEF talked on Fulbright and Other Scholarship Programs offered by the Foundation. As of today there are two faculty members who have finished their respective degrees under the Fulbright Program and two students who have participated in the Global undergraduate exchange program and two (1 faculty & 1 student) are presently enjoying PAEF-administered scholarship grants.
Ms. Valdecañas, presented the degree and non-degree programs such as: the Fulbright Graduate Student Program; Fulbright-Philippines Agriculture Scholarship Program (FPASP) for Advanced Research; Fulbright Advanced Research & University Lecturing (Senior) Award; Foreign language Teaching Assistants Program (FLTA); the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship (Degree Programs) and the International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP); Global Undergraduate Exchange Program and the East-West Center Fellowship (Non-degree Programs). She also discussed the general eligibility requirements and grant benefits given to applicants.
The lecture-forum started with a prayer led by Engr. Ami Ruth R. Cocson, director, Planning and Management Information System and Dr. Miriam E. Pascua, university President delivered the Welcome Remarks. Dr. Lucena R. Felipe, director, University Library System and AC introduced the resource speaker and gave the Closing Remarks. The Open Forum was moderated by Mr. Rommel C. Dascil, Fulbright program scholar and a faculty member of the College of Arts and Sciences while Dr. Marlina L. Lino, chair,
chair, Dept. of Languages and Literature, College of Arts and Sciences, acted as the emcee.
Ms. Valdecañas also lectured at the MMSU College of Teacher Education, Laoag City and at the Batac National High School, Batac City.
She visited the University with Ms. Yolly Casas, a PAEF staff member.
