Experiencing Thanksgiving in the U.S.

MMSU constituents had an opportunity to  experience thanksgiving in the U.S. at the MMSU-American Corner (AC) on November 24, 2011.

In the U.S., Thanksgiving Day is a day marked as a gesture of thanks and gratitude to Lord God Almighty for His bountiful blessings. It is a time of festivity, family meals and reunions and is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of the month of November every year.

As a way of experiencing thanksgiving in the U.S., the MMSU-AC  served the traditional roasted turkey, cranberry juice, fruits and mixed vegetable salad with beans and corn kernels.

The celebration started with an opening prayer led by Dr. Lucena R. Felipe, director of the MMSU-AC/University Library System. University President, Dr. Miriam E. Pascua started the thanksgiving by slicing the roasted turkey. Attended by 92 university officials, faculty, staff and students, this event was also an expression of thanksgiving of MMSU for the continuing generosity and support of the US government in terms of information resources, equipment, human resources development and the AC itself.
